                                                  Smoking vs Vaping.

I have heard of many opinions about vaping and smoking. On the one side you have those that believe smoking cigarettes are more harmful than vaping. On the other side, you have those that believe vaping is much less harmful and those chemicals used though may be toxic are not nearly as harmful as vaping.

What is the truth, however? Who is right? Can vaping be more harmful than smoking? or is smoking still much worse?

I hope I can answer this question by doing a comparison between the two. I am using various sources throughout this blog one of them being Health Canada. This seems like a good starting point so let's get going.

According to Vaping on an article, they posted entitled effects of vaping vs. smoking. If you are a smoker:

  • quitting smoking is the best thing you can do to improve your health. There is support available to help you quit.

  • completely replacing cigarette smoking with vaping will reduce your exposure to harmful chemicals.

  • there are short-term general health improvements if you completely switch from smoking cigarettes to vaping products.

Vaping is less harmful than smoking. It's important to note that vapor disperses much more quickly than tobacco smoke, and unlike cigarettes that causing chemicals in tobacco.

How Many New Vapers Cough When Vaping?

You are not the only one who coughs when vaping.We All Cough Now and Then.

I coughed when I started vaping. I've found that if you take a small hit you won't cough so much. It takes about a day to adjust to a harsher juice, so I can't imagine that the cough should be an ongoing issue. I'm sure we all still cough every now and then when we take too big a hit though!

Vaping products do not:

  • produce smoke

  • contain tobacco

  • involve burning

Except for nicotine, vaping products typically contain:

  • a fraction of the 7,000 chemicals found in tobacco smoke

  • lower levels of several of the harmful chemicals found in smoke

The benefits to personal health when they make the switch seems to be very high and the advantages may include:

Quitting smoking may improve the length and quality of your life. When you give up cigarettes, your body starts to renew itself as early as the first day of quitting. You may live longer and reduce your chance of developing heart disease, cancer, breathing problems, and infections. And there are other rewards too.

The health benefits of quitting are the same for all types of smokers (men and women, young and old). And by quitting, you will lower the chance that people around you will have health problem as well as second-hand smoke. 

There are many other benefits of quitting smoking:

  • Think of the money you will save on cigarettes.

  • Your life and house insurance premiums may go down.

  • Smoking cigarettes will no longer control your life.

  • You'll feel proud of your ability to overcome something so challenging in going to your next step or doing it cold turkey. Which is a better way for your health. Also to remember the vaping evaporates in 2 to 3 sounds and disperse.

Vaping products, the purpose:

  • protect young persons and non-tobacco users from inducements to use vaping products;

  • protect the health of young persons and non-users of tobacco products from exposure to and dependence on nicotine that could result from the use of vaping products;

  • protect the health of young persons by restricting access to vaping products;

  • prevent the public from being deceived or misled with respect to the health hazards of using vaping products; and

  • enhance public awareness of the health hazards of using vaping products.

New regulations for tobacco and vaping products are currently under consideration as part of Canada's comprehensive regulation making process and myself.
